Synchronicity: Whispers from across the veil

Synchronicity is the experience of meaningful coincidences — moments when events seem connected in ways that go beyond pure chance. It’s not necessarily “proof” of anything supernatural, but it’s the feeling that life is briefly aligning in a way that feels intentional, almost as if something is guiding me or taking me to where I was meant to go.

Synchronicity — or are things random?

It’s the experience of thinking of someone I haven’t considered in years… and then suddenly hearing their name. Or asking a question internally, only to stumble across an answer moments later in an unexpected place.

Recently, I thought of someone who I hadn’t thought of in years. 

I was doing something completely ordinary — cleaning, moving through the repetitive kind of tasks where the mind tends to drift. Out of nowhere, a high school friend came to mind. Not someone I’d been thinking about recently, and not someone I had any obvious reason to recall.

But the thought didn’t stop there. It narrowed unexpectedly: look up her brother.

At first, I questioned it. Why would I do that? It didn’t feel like there would be a purpose in the activity, more like a loss of time. Still, it kept returning with a strange persistence: look him up. You’ll learn something.

It wasn’t loud or dramatic. And I did give in.

It took a moment to even remember his name. But once I did, I searched for him.

What I found was unexpected.

Winning the lottery

Only a few months earlier, he had won $5 million in the lottery.

That alone would have been surprising enough. That was the moment of synchronicity or spirit sharing info with me. 

What stayed with me was something else: apparently, he had believed he would win the lottery for years. He bought a ticket every week throughout his entire adult life, holding onto that belief for decades. He’s now near retirement, and by all accounts, never let go of that conviction.

There was something strange about the timing of it all — the sudden thought, the specific instruction-like feeling, the discovery, and the story itself. It felt like I was hearing whispers from across the veil.

Random thoughts? Synchronicity? Messages from across the veil?

Most days, our thoughts feel random, and our experiences feel disconnected. But occasionally, something lines up in a way that makes me pause. It raises a quiet question:

Was that just coincidence? Or was it communication with the universe? Was it communication with my guides?

I don’t have a definitive answer. Maybe there isn’t one.

But I do know this: sometimes a passing thought leads me somewhere I wasn't planning to go — and what I find there causes me to stop and look at random experiences and ask – are they truly random?
