Abundance: Spiritual vs material possessions

Humans often confuse financial abundance with happiness and often associate the word abundance with financial wealth and material possessions. In fact, most humans believe that money is necessary to do certain things.
One of the teachings that resonates with me is from Bashar – an extraterrestrial entity channeled by Darryl Anka – that talks about the importance of understanding abundance.
Bashar basically tells us that humans receive abundance regularly. Only we fail to recognize it because we associate money with abundance. And, he says – while the spirit world grants us money to do what we need to do, abundance can be achieved by simply walking through the door when it arrives.
More specifically, other forms of abundance are gifted to us but as humans, we choose to associate money with abundance and we miss out on the true essence and meaning of abundance.
Gratitude for our daily abundance
I’m consistently trapped by the desire for abundance and often confuse it with financial abundance.
The reality is that my life is hugely abundant. I have a wonderful family, terrific people who surround and support me at work, good health, a terrific dog, a warm, cozy home, a vehicle to get me around, clothing to keep me warm, and the list goes on.

Sometimes I lose focus and forget to feel gratitude for these things. The moments when your dog comes to celebrate with a kiss for you. The joy you feel when your son walks in the front door of your house. The delicious smell and taste of the fresh food after you've cooked it. The gratitude to famers to growing it. The thankfulness for good health and good tastebuds to enjoy the food! And, the list goes on.
Are there times when we are celebrating, spending time with friends and family and forgetting that this is also abundance? Enjoying a meal together. Enjoying companionship, conversation, and time together. Are these also abundance? Do we fail to see this as abundance? Do we fail to celebrate this abundance? And do we fail to show gratitude for this?
Is it possible that Bashar is talking about this abundance? You decide. You be the judge.
As we approach the Canadian thanksgiving, let’s celebrate abundance!
