Fear, control, and the "Ah-Ha" moment

I have been living with fear for more than 15 years, and to be honest, I am completely obsessed with the topic. Ever since I started path2spirit, I have been constantly researching and writing about it. This week, I find myself returning to the subject yet again, sparked by a recent "ah-ha" moment.

It made me wonder: How exactly does fear shape our actions?

The impact of fear.

Or should the question be: when we encounter fear as we’re discovering or doing something, how does it reinforce our belief systems? And can we shed those belief systems if we take action into areas of the unknown?

In our daily lives, we encounter many scenarios. Sometimes we’re inspired to do something.

While we're pursuing what inspires us, we can encounter new ideas. And on occasion, we can feel fear as we mull over these new ideas. If we can’t move beyond the fear, we abandon the idea. As an example, you may have a business idea. Perhaps you love dogs, and you want to start a pet grooming business. You're inspired! But then you remember the last time you started a business, it failed. And you're scared of failure. Your belief: you fail in business situations, especially when you are in charge of business decisions. To be successful with the new pet-grooming business, you need to abandon the old belief system. If we can’t let go of the old belief system, the fear prevents you from growing – you abandon the idea of opening a pet-grooming business, and you reinforce your fear and your belief system.

My life was chaotic and exhausting. I built this custom workbook to map out the exact spiritual tools I used to reclaim my sanity. You can download the complete $12 framework here.

If you get past your fear of being unsuccessful as an entrepreneur, you push into new territory and beyond your fears. You learn to be a disciplined business practitioner. Transcending your fear and letting go of old beliefs about yourself will take you to the next level of self-development, consciousness and understanding. You learn new skills. You build confidence. You make new connections. You earn money. You find independence. You learn resilience. You find self-worth. What is your belief system now? Can this now be a stepping stone that takes you to something new and different in the future?

How does fear derail you from finding success? Now, apply this scenario to a spiritual situation. Do you believe in God? Or maybe the devil? How does your belief in these root fear within you? How does the fear prevent you from exploring spiritual opportunities or growth opportunities within interpersonal relationships? In my case, I was raised as a Catholic and many things within the belief system cause fear and anxiety. When I make decisions or encounter situations, do I use beliefs from Catholic doctrine to guide me? Are these rooted in fear? And would I choose differently if I had a different belief system? I'm certain that I would perceive the world differently and make different decisions if I had a different belief system. In recent years, I've been pushing the boundaries of my belief system, and it's uncomfortable. I'm often fearful of the outcomes. In fact, I've had moments where I'm absolutely terrified. And the irony is... Despite all of the terrifying situations I've encountered, I'm ok. Nothing bad has happened to me. In fact, the fear has led to discoveries, new beliefs and courage. They've forced me to dive deeper into the esoteric realm and learn new things. And the "ah-ha" moment is really simple -- if you don't push your boundaries and walk with fear, you aren't going to change, grow or learn new things, including new belief systems.
